Northline theme features
Northline is a Ghost theme for magazines, essay series, research letters, and
studio journals. This page describes the capabilities shown in the demo and
links to the pages where they can be inspected.
About the demo
Northline, its four authors, and its 32 articles are fictional. They form a
realistic editorial dataset created to demonstrate the theme.
Light, Dark, and Auto
Northline supports Light, Dark, and Auto appearance modes. Auto follows the
reader's system preference; the header control lets a reader override that
choice. Use the control while viewing the Style Guide to
compare the editorial elements in each mode.
Classic, Grid, and List
The article feed can use a Classic, Grid, or List layout. These are global
theme settings selected in Ghost Admin, not parallel homepages. The demo uses
one at a time. The Showcase presents comparable screenshots of
all three using the same underlying content.
Five content treatments
Northline uses standard Ghost posts and internal tags to present five
editorial forms:
- Feature for long, image-rich reporting;
- Essay for argument-led,
typography-first writing; - Case Study for structured
accounts of change; - Field Note for concise observations;
- Visual Story for
image-led narratives.
The Showcase explains when each treatment is useful.
Topics, Authors, and Editions
Topics presents reader-facing subjects with their published story
counts. Authors provides a contributor directory and individual
profiles. Editions groups stories into dated issues using public
Ghost tags with reserved edition-YYYY-MM slugs.
Public and restricted content
Northline presents Ghost's public, members-only, and paid-members-only access
states in its feeds and articles. The article archive contains
two members-only and two paid-members-only examples. Representative examples:
The restricted teasers demonstrate presentation and access boundaries. They do
not imply that a live paid checkout is available.
Ghost Portal and search
Northline integrates with Ghost Portal and provides consistent entry points for sign-up, sign-in, and account management. Ghost controls the Portal interface, accounts, access rules, email, checkout, and billing.
Northline also exposes Ghost search from the site header. Both features remain platform capabilities configured in Ghost Admin rather than custom account or search systems maintained by the theme.
Designed error handling
The 404 page gives a lost reader a clear route back into the publication. A deliberately missing link at the bottom of the Showcase opens the real Northline error template.
Responsive by design
Northline's typography, editorial layouts, images, navigation, directories, and tables adapt across phone, tablet, and desktop widths. The public demo is the proof: inspect representative pages at the width that matters to you.
Price, licence, updates, and support
Northline is USD 109 during its introductory period and will later be USD 129. One commercial licence covers one production Ghost publication, plus the development and staging use described in the licence.
Updates for as long as Northline is actively maintained, plus twelve months of personal support.
